The West Australian Pole Performance Showcase (WAPPS) is set to take centre stage at Eve nightclub at Burswood Entertainment Complex on Friday, 21 October, following the success of last year’s inaugural event.
The WAPPS offers the general public an opportunity to learn more about the art of pole sports and will provide a platform for pole dancing enthusiasts of all skill levels, to demonstrate the technique and athletic prowess required.
With registrations to perform at the Showcase already at capacity, WAPPS Founder and Pole Fever Fitness Director, Sabrina Waller, is anticipating a sell-out crowd.
“Last year’s WAPPS had a brilliant turn-out which confirms there is an avid interest in pole sport in Perth. It’s a great sport as people of all ages, sizes and skill levels can get involved and enjoy the benefits of incorporating pole dancing to their exercise regime," Mrs Waller said.
“As an active member of the International Pole Sports Federation (IPSF), I am passionate about raising the profile of pole fitness. Whilst it is an emerging sport, the fact that there is now a global committee to govern the rules of competitive pole dancing speaks volumes. It has become hugely popular among men and women of all fitness levels.”
“The practice of pole sports among male athletes is increasing because it is being recognised as a unique and physically demanding form of exercise. More and more people are finding it an enjoyable exercise alternative, and most importantly they see the results in their physique,” Mrs Waller added.
Local Pole Fever instructor, Tammy Baxter recently competed in the semi-finals at the International Pole World Cup in Rio de Janero, Brazil and will be among the twelve performers sharing skills at the Showcase.
The WAPPS 2011 will be held at Eve Club Burswood on Friday, 21 October at 7pm. Tickets are $35 and can be purchased from www.wapole.net.au. And www.moshtix.com.au
