Miss Pole Dance WA Review

Posted on 20th Jun 2011 @ 2:55 AM

I had the pleasure of attending Miss Pole Dance WA Saturday 11th June at the Perth Convention Exhibition Centre. A sequin clas Chilli Rox, a glass of champagne and twenty pole dance acts made for a great night. The venue was ideal for the event, and for the most part I ws sitting with the judges, so I got a good view from up high.

It was such an exciting environment, especially because I was attending with a friend of mine who hadn't seen a pole dancing performance before. I knew the sky high heels would be enough to win her over, but add to that a mix of Christina Aguilera's Burlesque soundtrack, some club songs and some killer bodies and I had nothing to worry about. A new addict on board.

I was feeling proud for the amount of older women competing this time round; it just goes to show that pole dancing gives everyone confidence.

Women travelled all the way up from Bunbury to compete and support. I think Chilli summed up when she said,“That's why we do all love it, because of the sisterhood here.”

I knew the girls would be good, but I got a bit more than state competition level. I've seen a great deal of pole dancing performances, but there were still a couple of gasps and jaw-drops. You can really see how much training these women put into their routines. Some had only been on the pole for nine months, and showed so much confidence and skill.

Trinity's routine was one of my favourites. The housewife with a basket of laundry thing doesn't usually get me smiling, but I absolutely loved it.

Best costume went to Jacinta in her spider woman get up, but in my opinion Leish wasn't far behind. She sported a very interesting white costume with a glitter bra. I tried to explain it, but you'll have to check out the pictures for yourself.

I have to give it up to Lotus for performing to Akon's song, 'Freedom', one of my all time favourite songs (and is quite suited to pole dancing) and for having her name in diamantes on her bum! That's pole class that is.
