The American Pole Fitness Championships, hosted by comedian Mona Cooper and TV personality Jenna Morasca, were held in New York City on October 14, 2011. The show opened with performances by Jasmine Dragons’ Youth Acrobatic team, a group of children aged six to thirteen. Becca Armijo of ThePoleDancingShop.com, as well Joel Bretan of Mighty Grip, and were both honored for being supporters of the American Pole Fitness Association. The Pole Dancing Shop is happy to have been included as a sponsor of the 2011 American Pole Fitness Championships. We look forward to many years in the pole dancing industry.
Flying Laura Martin was named the 2011 APFA Champion for the women's division. She hails from San Diego, California and is a pioneer in bringing pole dance to the mainstream.
Phoenix Kazree, from Los Angeles, California, placed second and was named the APFA Pole Athlete of the Year™. She recently won the title at the California Pole Dance Championship.
Heidi Coker placed third and took home the APFA Pole Artist of the Year™. She teaches pole at Pole Waxers University in Marietta, Georgia.
Derick Pierson took home the title of 2011 APFA Champion for the men's division. He lives in Palm Beach Gardens, Florida. Derick was initially self-taught on the pole but now trains at Cheeky Fitness.
David C. Owen, who lives in Las Vegas, Nevada, took home second place and teaches pole workshops at studios across the United States.
Suwasit, who was born in Thailand but now lives in Las Vegas, placed third and also won the APFA Video of the Year™ (an award voted by the fans). Suwasit teaches at Las Vegas Pole Dance Studio.
